Abounding with the glory of nature surrounding the planet. Speaking in treetop to each other in a global Internet that has existed millions of years before mankind!

This language has always been. Have we lost our way in thinking the answers lie in particle colliders and machinations that always need upgrades? This network of nature has been laughing at us yet so tenderly nurturing us! Watching the critical maneuvers of man to replicate their perfect planetary system. Why does man always want to meddle with perfection? I guess it’s a love affair after all. For in truth we ARE nature. Malleable biological DNA driven creatures given more insight and responsibility as we evolve.

It must be a divine love from Mother Earth that keeps us fragile beings in existence. For it wouldn’t take much to put the kibosh on the entire thing! Yet the resilience of our kind is also admirable in its adaptation. Perhaps that is what Mother Earth enjoys; an enchantment of the planet by our silly selves. In essence though the greatest known creation is our biosphere called Earth of which we have an enormous impact upon just as it has on us. It’s our dance of life where each gets its turn to lead us spinning magnificently throughout the Universe!

I played this song for a young gang member who came up to me while I was busking on the Venice Boardwalk one afternoon and asked for a healing song. He was really wrecked from something horrible I could see it in his eyes. I told him I wasn't really warmed up enough to sing it yet but when he looked at me with devastated eyes and pleaded "Please" I couldn't resist. He sat there cross legged in front of me and just cried as I sang with as much conviction and love as I could muster in that moment.

Afterwards he put his hands together at his heart, thanked me, and put $10 in my bucket. I knew there was something far grander than me participating in the performance of that song yet I was the catalyst for it. I could feel that same incredulous energy that I experienced the day I wrote the song flowing through me to him as I sang.

Another time I sang it at a memorial. I had played the Topanga Canyon Earth day festival and after my set this Native American woman who had lost her son recently asked me to sing at his memorial . Now I'd never done anything like that and I surely am not a traditional singer-songwriter that plays other musicians music so I politely turned her down, three times! She called the man who booked me at the festival and insisted he get me to play. He convinced me and again, this song was the one I intuitively knew to play. I played it in a tree (you can see the picture on my gallery page) in the Topanga Native Gardens at the end of the memorial.

The deceased man's best friend was at the base of the tree meditating while I sat in the boughs and sang. I was very touched by the ceremony and feeling all the grief of his friends and family at losing him at such a young age. I truly needed to be in the heart of this giant tree to stay centered and feel supported. I got a leg up and had my guitar handed to me and just started the opening notes of “Profound Peace” not really knowing where it was going.

As I sang I literally could feel hundreds of angels with me singing. Then, still playing I began moving my upper body in circles to the music. I was intuitively gathering all the energy of the deceased man's friends and family along with the shared stories of his life and channeling it right up through the tree, into my body, and out through my throat assisted by everything in that space including myriads of angels! My eyes were closed and I saw this bright ball of light that I instantly knew was Chris! In this transcendental state after the second verse of lyrics I began to improvise these lyrics "May your journey onto the next world be as beautiful as your life on Earth." At the precise moment I finished singing I received a communication of gratitude from Chris and watched his soul, faster than the speed of light, shoot over this behemoth horizon like nothing I've ever seen in any NASA pictures or sic-fi films!!

As Chris' friend helped me out of the tree I saw that he was as astounded as I was. He and others kept talking about how there were literally angels in that tree right there in the middle of the day in the Topanga Gardens! It left me awestruck for about four to six hours!! It was around 2pm and after the memorial I went to the Topanga Canyon Earth Day festival wrap party. Despite the wonderful people at the party I had a very tough time socializing. I'd just seen a man's soul shoot on to the next dimension!! I was sober as can be yet spiritually high as a kite from the entire event. I'm honored to this day to have been a part of assisting Chris' transition onto his next realm of existence.

These are only a couple of the stories about the effects of “Profound Peace” and it’s basically why I continue to make music. I’ve been pretty busy with some new engaging magical moments and creating new songs out of them but as of today nothing has been as potent, tangible, and miraculous as the events while creating this song. I’m hoping though and as a fairly experienced soul, I am pretty sure there is more to come…

How does one describe the most incredulous unmeasurable undeniably real miraculous experience of their life?! It's so beyond comprehension yet I am compelled with all my being to share it. After that, I start dancing with my fingers upon the strings in utter celestial revelry! Lon took it to a grander level by adding in the beauteous piano notes and dreamy effects that caused me to shed tears of gratitude when I first heard it. He simply "got it" on so many levels. Then Kenny comes in with this grounding rolling percussion that makes one think of running wild and carefree on the open plains of Africa in an ode to life itself. Finally around 2pm I took a break and began playing. After singing "Lost in Flight" I begin the new song "Profound Peace". Out of the blue this divine light comes in from the upper right of my apartment. This has only happened to me once before, when I was 17 and praying with a stranger, but this time I was older, wiser, and able to fully open to this dynamic, loving, exciting, blissful, inspiring, mind blowing energy that I can only describe as the hand of God or the Light but truly there are no words to fully explain it! It is divinity squared to the tenth. I have been fortunate enough to have become friends with a few people who have physically died and been brought back to life and they describe very similar experiences. The only difference is that I was fully awake at 2:22 in the afternoon in my apartment playing guitar!! Tears of overwhelming joy streamed down my face onto the cherry wood of my guitar as I finished the song. I put it down and through my tears I said," Thank you God. Thank you life. Please stay I'm older and wiser than when you came to me at 17!" I then wrote all of my thoughts in my journal and sat marinating in the most gorgeous energy of my life up to that point. A few minutes later a voice that was both mine but also something far more magnificent than mine said clear as day, "Go outside there is going to be a rainbow."

First off in West LA we rarely ever get rainbows. It's almost always sunny and it was this afternoon. No forecast of rain at all. So I'm kind of surprised. Well, no kidding, within 20 minutes I look outside and see the sun shining and big drops of rain coming down in front of my window! It's the middle of the day and the entire sky is sunny except for this cloud cell right over my neighborhood. I just couldn't wrap my head around all this but the level of love, insight, and sheer joy surging through me was undeniably tangible. I go outside to see not just a rainbow but a full on double rainbow!! At this point I'm pretty blown away but my inner voice is telling me there is more. I'm in complete divine communication although I don't really understand what is being communicated. I'm drawn to some fast moving clouds between the two rainbows when the holes appear in the clouds in the form of letters. Two letters that writing this now seem so simple yet so overlooked, "WE". I got it!! I was mesmerized and full of astonishment. A sad looking woman walked by with an umbrella and I shouted to her, "Look up, there is a double rainbow!" She glanced up to look at it and then walked on lost in her own thoughts. I wanted to hug her and share this monumental moment with her and bring her out of her slump but I just let her be. I went inside and wrote part 2 of this experience in my journal.

Strangers stopped me on the streets telling me things like I had the most beautiful aura they had ever seen or asked for help with personal struggles. I felt like I was living in a dream for quite a while but it was all real. I wrote down everything I could so today I can look back and know all that really did happen! You see I had come up with this concept of a "WE" tour the summer before 2-22-2008 happened. I was taking some spiritual concepts that were running around a group of musicians, yogis, raw foodies, artists, and filmmakers here in Venice/Santa Monica/Topanga and putting them into a festival, kind of like a Lollapalooza but with the intent of connecting all humans in a loving light to end wars and such forever. How to execute it in an all encompassing way so each and every one of the 7 billion people on Earth were included was highly discussed and debated. You see we get so lost in our so called convictions of how we think we should live, which is so varied by culture, income, sex, personal experience, biological abilities, etc., that we dislike those that live different and it creates friction and war when in the end all WE really want is Profound Peace!

The rhythm to this song sounds deceptively easy but trust me 'twas not the case. I wanted to acoustically create the feeling of flying around and almost landing but skidding right back up. Like a seagull navigating the wind currents over the ocean. It's pretty organic in execution or was until we got in the studio. You see when you have a bassist and a percussionist needing to lay down tracks you have to get it consistent and this being my first studio album it took some time to get it right. Who would have thought this one was going to be difficult? I'll never forget Lon, the engineer, and his wife cheering me on from the control room late into the evening on the top of Topanga Canyon. Those two are just phenomenal people and so nurturing to emerging artists! I'd be so close then slip a half beat and we'd start it all over. It was surreal! Right at the end of the song I yell at Lon to turn around and we both dropped what we were doing and ran out side. He said he has seen hawks up there but has never seen one fly right up to the window like that. I almost thought it was going to break the glass!

This song came out of a few years of working with the energy of love. Yes love. It started in Hollywood when I was at a concert with my girlfriends. We came out and were waiting at the valet to get our car when a ruckus broke out at the club behind the valet station. A six foot plus man was in a complete rage and there were four bouncers trying to contain him outside the club so he wouldn't hurt anyone. His arms were flailing and he was screaming at everyone in a total tantrum. A crowd of about a hundred people were gathered for the spectacle.

When our car finally arrived I was in the backseat and asked my friend Grace to drive really slow by the crowd. I summonsed up all the love I could feel in my heart and right when we drove past the crowd I locked eyes with the outraged man and yelled with utter conviction, "I love you! LOVE YOU! Love!" and it was like a bullet to his soul. He dropped to the ground instantaneously and all four bouncers were able to contain him. The crowd was shocked, the bouncers were shocked, and I was shocked! People were flabbergasted at what had happened and we just drove off talking about it the entire drive home.

I started experimenting with the energy of pure love in public. I had started mentally saying to people wherever I went in public from my heart, "I love you your soul is beautiful" just to see what ,if anything, would happen. Things did happen! On train rides, bus rides, Venice Beach, and all over. Whenever I would see a person who was homeless or in agony I would look at them and say "I love you your soul is beautiful," sometimes out loud. Homeless people would stop screaming (if only temporarily), a drug addled man on the bus felt it and verbally thanked me for lifting his spirit, and I stopped a wasted girl at a concert from trying to fight me by simply grabbing her by the shoulders and saying "I love you, your beautiful, and better than this." She was stunned and completely stopped her aggression.

Most of these incidents I had friends with me who witnessed it or participated but if I remember I do this everywhere I go. You can literally watch people perk up! It's so easy to do. Try it and let me know what happens. You do have to really feel the love in your heart and it does seem to work even better when there are two or more of you. It's a really fun thing to do if you're in a line at a movie or on a long plane ride etc. If you see someone who obviously is going through a hard time, sending them love is a really rewarding experience especially when you see them sit a little straighter and relax a bit.

This song came from that work and that I honestly believe every human being has real light and beauty in them. However I must admit that there might have been a man or two involved in the inspiration for this song as well...

The first verse comes from a man who I'd fallen into puppy love with while at a friends wedding in Colorado although he wasn't the first Colorado man to swoon me. I was so smitten I thought we would be together forever. "These Rocky Mountain boys get to me every time. With their whiskey star gazing, secret waterfalls, shining eyes in breathless skies leaves me no defense at all." It lasted four months but when I got back to LA there was no shortage of charming men to help me get over the heartbreak. "Seems these Pacific boys know exactly how to please. With their heavenly bodies, secret tidal pools, shining dreams in candlelit nights leaves no sleep at all." Oh yes, big sigh.

The realization came to me that if you emit love wherever you go you'll probably find it in some shape or form. So I wrote the chorus, "Ooooo how beautiful this state of love surrounds me," because that is exactly what was happening. Each state I went to I felt surrounded by love!

The last verse is the "Soul Beautiful" work, "Loving this world with my guitar in my hand. Seems these peculiarities sometimes feel so grand. With their celestial unfolding, secret psychic waves, shining light in desperate times leaves me happiest of it all" All of the twists and turns that lead us through life when we follow our intuition and help us to discover hidden talents that we could have never imagined otherwise. The challenges that remind of us of our innate ability to rise above the drudgery of life to escape our mental prisons and limited views. "How beautiful this state of love surrounds me. Oooooo how beautiful to have so much love around me. Oooo you're soul beautiful. We're all soul beautiful."

Kristi Bridetag:www.kristibride.com,2005:Post/713232011-12-31T16:10:00-08:002023-10-16T07:44:43-07:00Profound Peace in 2012You have inspired us, shared your love, and brought abundant joy to us in 2011.

Why? What was all this really about? I mean we were two really kindhearted people that had a general sense of treating each other with love and respect but this one thing, this one thing that was an absract ideology kept causing major fights. It was religion. We were both of similar mindset yet the labels kept getting in the way. And it wasn't just us, it was the entire world! Here we were fighting our own personal version of a holy war. Yet as I type that I know those two worlds just don't go together. You can't have a war and call it holy. Nothing could be further from the truth. I understand war can be a necessary evil and I have the utmost love and gratitude for those that have been on the front lines. I have had deep conversation with soldiers that were in Iraq. They agreed with me. War is NOT holy. At the end of the day we are all human beings that want love and health and good food and joyous times with friends and family! What if instead of all these different labels and groups we associated with we were "Just me and you" nothing else and nothing more!

This song is a meditation on that. I sing the first verse with total love for the dear friends and family I have of various religions; my heroic love whom is Christian, my hilarious Muslim girlfriend who has a heart of gold, and my Jewish neighbor that became an extremely generous friend and also was the first to record me in his home studio for free! When I sing the opening lyrics I think of these people and their impact on my life.

"He says he's a Christian, she says she's a Muslim, they say their Jews. What ever happened to just me and you?"

"When will we stop fighting this unholy war?"

Then I was thinking it's more than religions it's also obviously resources. Food and water, ya know the basics of life. There are a couple of major corporations doing a severe injustice to third world countries and the food economy in general. The main one I don't even wish to type their name because it's absolutely awful what they have done. Profit above life.

Just to give you an example in India they promised their genetically modified seeds would produce more cotton per acre and talked the farmers into taking out loans to purchase their patented seeds. Well they lied. The cotton didn't produce as much as they promised and the fibers were too short to produce the quality of fabric that their old seeds did. Many lost everything and 100 farmers committed suicide. There are countless stories like this all over the world. They go into third world areas and sell them patented genetically modified seeds and from then on own a percentage of each crop while also making it so the farmers can only buy their pesticides which they have created their plants to be immune to. In short it's not a company that respects eco systems or hard working farmers. Don't even get me started on the cross contamination and how they pollute non gmo crops then try and charge the farmers for what the wind did. They are strategizing to own all plants. PLANTS! Many countries such as Ethiopia, Ireland, and Peru have banned them. Here in America we are trying to at least get them to label their food as Genetically Modified. Why are they fighting this? If they stand behind their product why wouldn't they be proud to label it?

"He claims his seeds do no harm. She says no they're not from the farm. They want to own all sources of life. Come on people there is no way that's right!"

"When will we stop fighting this unholy war? What are we really fighting for?!"

The last verse of the song is the essence of what I, as one of 7 billion, truly can offer and my ceaseless desire for a more peaceful world. Yes, I have total faith that we will one day evolve to a species that doesn't even know what war is. It shall be a distant story that people roll their eyes at and cannot believe how ancient humans once lived that way. I don't know how long it will take but I know with all my heart we are on our way to a peaceful planet.

"All I have is my heart, beats in time for a fresh start. All we are, are stars all we are are stars."

We are made up of star molecules, we are all stars in someones sky, and we all have brilliant light in us! What were we fighting about again?
Kristi Bridetag:www.kristibride.com,2005:Post/1263192011-12-02T06:20:00-08:002011-12-02T06:20:00-08:00The Deep BlueI adore this song almost as much as I adore the man I wrote it for! Plus how many tunes have an ukulele solo. Jared just came in like a sweet tropical breeze and blew us away in the studio. I must admit I kept asking for more takes just to watch his fingers effortlessly float over those tiny frets. I was in awe!

Man falls in love with free spirited singer/songwriter. Said singer/songwriter is swept off her feet and deliriously in love. Man takes singer/songwriter to Maui for her birthday where it's a "Wonderous world" and "Explorations begin", hence the first verse. Man takes singer/songwriter on a catamaran trip snorkeling between the islands. On the way back to Maui the captain stops the boat in between the islands in what is called "The Deep Blue" and tells us (incase you haven't figured out who the singer/songwriter is yet it's me silly) that if we'd like we can jump off the boat and swim in this heavenly water.

We go under and all you hear are these surreal whale songs. The same beautiful notes over and over. The locals tell us that each year the song is a few notes and beats different but they all sing the same song each season. I become entranced and start to swim towards the sonic lullabies when the captain yells at me to stay closer to the boat. I say, "Nooooo I'm going to just swim off in the deep blue and hang with the whales." Then my guys head pops up next to me with a look of pure bewilderment on his face. He tells me I have to open my eyes under water, it's the most gorgeous blue he's ever seen. I did and it was beyond blue. It was this bright deep color of blue that can only be found in the deep Hawaiian sea.

The second verse is about our first full day on Maui where I decided I would jump off the back of the infamous Black Rock. It's the only time I think years of mediation have bitten me in the arse. As I jump the 20 or so feet in midair I tell myself to relax in order to fully feel the sensation of the wind as I fall and fall and fall and then SMACK! Yes the genius I am I over road my bodies natural instinct to tense up and hit the water like a knife. Instead I was a free flying ball of utter relaxation and my calves decided to go right and left of my thighs making my knees bend in ways they weren't made to bend. Friggin OUCH! Since it was our first day of the trip I was convinced to keep going... after biking down to Lahaina and stopping for several mai tais along the way I was in pretty intense pain. But hey we only had a five mile bike ride back, ugh. Towards the end I thought I was going to pass out from the pain but my man kept encouraging me and leading me through the agonizing bike ride in the dark. When we got to the hotel he grabbed my hand and held me up as I limped up to our hotel room. I had a level of pain in my knees that I feared was gong to leave me partially crippled but my sweet man lovingly coaxed me through the pain. "When I get scared injured or confused you grab my hand ignite my fuse." He just kept cheering me on and giving me TLC till all was bearable and we didn't miss the gorgeous hike to the 400 foot waterfall that I'm under on the cover of the album!

"There you stand heroic man. This love we share is the flower of life (it) blossoms in sweet air" ! That last line is the title of the album and the only way I could possibly describe this love that has astonished me, challenged me to blossom when I was lost in confusion, and nurtured me in the way that only true love can. I'll never forget the night he saw blue sparks coming from my upper chest. "Um, I see blue sparks coming off of you," he said.
"Oh that's just glitter I put on earlier."
"No it's bright blue light," he said.
"Lets talk about this in the morning, I'm tired."
As it turns out my big beautiful hunk also sees energy! Thats where the second chorus, "You see my deep blue energy" comes from.

"Everything you are breathes new life in me. Your my Deep Blue Hawaiian sea." He truly is a hero in every sense of the word and being with him makes for a completely "Glorious life"!
Kristi Bridetag:www.kristibride.com,2005:Post/1249202011-11-23T11:35:00-08:002011-11-23T11:35:00-08:00Unsolicited Advice
Oh boy THIS one was was as difficult to write as it was listening to all the unsolicited advice I was getting at the time! I actually sprained my finger perfecting the intricate rhythm on my guitar. It's stylishly interesting and I call it a salsa punk tune but there is definitely also a jazz feel to it. It's the only song that I let my fingers sing the chorus instead of my voice. For some reason the fret jumping seems to communicate the semi-organized chaos that had become my life better than vocals...

I was in the oh so enviable position of couch surfing and was living primarily at my djembe players house in Long Beach. We were playing exhilarating shows at places like The Knitting Factory, The Derby, The Whisky a Go Go, The Good Hurt, and all the awesome LA venues. He was a chef at a gourmet BBQ /craft beer place in Seal Beach so we ate pretty good and there was always an influx of interesting open minded artistic people at the house. It was the perfect breeding ground for making music except the fact that the mentally challenged upstairs neighbor hated music. I mean HATED music. You could crank the TV super loud but if we ate on the porch with Billie Holiday singing softly in the background she would call the cops. When we rehearsed she would freak out and menacingly stare at us through the outside window. So I started singing to her this really soft pretty improve, "I just want to set you free from the voices you bought for your head making you live half dead." which ended up being in the second verse of the song and it would work sometimes! She would calm down, go home, and leave us alone. We wouldn't hear from her until her next episode and boy would she have episodes. But I digress, lets get to the beginning of the tune and the hard core of what inspired "Unsolicited Advice."

Everyone, especially certain family members whom shall remain nameless, started feeling the need to go on long tyrannical tirades about what they thought I needed to do to regain my former lifestyle. For a while I listened but none of it made any sense whatsoever and then the proverbial lightbulb went off, "I don't want your life. Why the hell would I listen to you? Do you have any clue as to how arrogant you sound? You're constantly stressed, consumed with consuming, and often rude to people. I would never want to be like you." Hence the beginning, "Why would I listen to you? I don't ever want to sound like you do. Your in the vain of an ego migraine and it's going to burst from the confusion you spew."

In essence I needed to find my own way and so appreciate the incredibly supportive friends and family that understood that. In the end I took the entire nine months of homelessness as a learning experience. The people I met and the mind blowing miracles that happened could fill an entire album or two or three. I survived and grew in ways I didn't even know I could!! But how could I share this exciting fresh perspective with clarity and humility?

I was laying on my percussionist's cement garage floor during a very intense phone conversation with my friend Thomas who had traveled the country homeless for three years as an artist. He is a truly benevolent soul. He could only give advantageous solicited advice! A few years back he had stayed with me for about a week and I'll never forget him saving a wheelchair bound suicidal man's life by running out into major traffic on Lincoln Blvd.! Now he is a filmmaker and writer in the Big Apple doing quite well.

So Thomas and I are deep in a philosophical debate when it becomes extremely clear to me just how much we all affect each other. How incredibly intertwined we are in so many ways, often without even realizing it, even with complete strangers! I mean of course I'd read the philosophies about being "All one" etc. but by driving around isolated in my car and living alone I just never garnered a real wisdom that can only be found through experience. It's like my boyfriend once said, "People can tell you about Africa but your not going to really understand it until you go to Africa."

My humble attempt to translate all this into the last verse is; "Here's the key to liberty's door, found it while sleeping on the cement floor. The justice in you is the justice in me. The truth from you is the truth from me. The path to you might not be the path to me but the love in you is the love in me. We're bound together in evolution's glue. Lets unlock this door so we can all walk through!" It's a call to kind action because whether we like it or not we are superbly, quantumly, and irrevocably bound together on this planet. So please remember that when you are about to give or receive some unsolicited advice this holiday season!

Kristi Bridetag:www.kristibride.com,2005:Post/1240722011-11-18T04:50:00-08:002011-11-18T04:50:00-08:00Tranquilized DreamsThis is such a fun psychedelicesque tune! It has a lot of sociatal commentary and wild experiences written into one song. This was a last minute addition to the album as I always thought of it as too obscure for release but we all had such a blast recording it that it's become a favorite! The whispering background vocals were impromptu and done in my last recording session. I didn't want it to end and I cried like the sentimental soul I am when it was all over.

The inspiration for "Tranquilized Dreams" began by drinking dirty olive martini's at Wilshire with an incessant gold dangler. Every time I tried to change the conversation to something other than his piles of money he found a way to bring it right back to his real estate portfolio or ridiculously expensive watch - UGH. So I finally left the annoying gold dangler at the bar. On my walk home the first verse, "Hey Mr.Imbecile I've taken another pill so I can conversate with youuuuu..." just came to me. I drunkenly scribbled down the lyrics before falling into bed that night.

The chorus was fueled by the last presidential election. "The sandpiper blows a thousand winds. Rumors run a hundred days. Oh I have been mislead."

The second verse is about politics and a general frustration with the status quo. "For the insurgence breeds our ignorance and the time is spinning round. We tranquilize our dreams. Feeling Edvard's scream, know too damn well what it is about." Come on, we've all been there!

For the beginning of the third verse I was having a long distance romance with this man that kind of reminded me of a young King Tut. I admit it's kind of odd but he did and he drank a LOT. "Young Tut came to me, Egyptian revelry, then the gold became the wine."

Then I was stuck for a bit. I couldn't figure out how to wrap it all up so life did it for me! I was at Euphoria, a raw food restaurant on Main St. in Santa Monica, when this Eastern European man, gold chains and all, named Apollo asked to sit next to me. He was far from the typical crunchy looking patron and I was intrigued so I said, "Be my guest". What happened next no one could have possibly predicted.

Within five minutes of talking to this man he tells me how his brother had recently died and he himself didn't believe in an afterlife. I looked him straight in the eye and called his bluff, "But you feel your brothers spirit with you don't you." The man just bursts into tears and he is NOT happy about it. "Yes I do, all the time," he exclaims through stifled sobs. Obviously embarrassed, he tells me he is usually the one who reads the woman, not the other way around. Then he tried to get all old school macho on me by telling me that women need to be hit sometimes to understand their place in society. Well he didn't faze me. I just kept holding the space of love and letting him release his pain. But that is where "Apollo's had his fun" comes from. No more beating the women you fools!

While this is all happening I have this incredible experience of feeling these gorgeous white shimmering wings start to unfurl like a furn from my back. Then I see them come around and surround the man and I! Here I was in the middle of a restaurant, pen and paper in hand, trying to write the last verse of this song when a guy named Apollo shows up out of nowhere and these healing energy wings come out of me and surround us in light!! "Wings unfurling shimmering white." Life just came right in and wrote the last verse for me. Seriously, I couldn't have made this stuff up if I wanted to!!

In order to wrap it all up on a positive note I extended the chorus in an attempt to empower myself and all of us, "I have been misled, oh how we have been misled, oh how I have been misread." Because you just never really know what we are truly capable of in any given moment!
Kristi Bridetag:www.kristibride.com,2005:Post/1216032011-11-03T09:35:00-07:002011-11-03T09:35:00-07:00Reverb from 40,000,000 Miles AwayThis song is total stream of consciousness! I was on a bluff overlooking the sweet Pacific Ocean on the 20th anniversarry of my mothers death watching the sky light up with corals and violets from the setting sun feeling really peaceful. It was a gorgeous spring day with these giant beautiful lavender bushes in full bloom. As I was deep in contemplation this gentle fragrant wind blew on my face and I felt my mother's loving spirit surround me. When I got home I sat down and wrote "Reverb", the spoken word part of the song, that ends with "Free as the sky she tells me. We are all free as the sky!"

The next few weeks I was having incredibly vivid dreams. After one particularly cool dream with a bright luminous bird soaring in a cobalt blue stream in the sky, I wrote the rest of the song in one sitting.

My little nephews always requested that song when they were toddlers and would get all giggly when I sang the "doo dee dum doo dee do doo" and it always seemed to calm then down, well at least for the duration of the tune. You all know how full of wild energy little boys can be!

There are a lot of references to different states of consciousness, dimensions, and nature in that song. I'd love to hear your interpretations!Kristi Bridetag:www.kristibride.com,2005:Post/1161992011-09-27T08:35:00-07:002022-07-26T11:47:51-07:00The making of "Blossoms in Sweet Air" almost didn't happen!
Two weeks before we were to have our first recording session for the album I had an intense bright yellow light come to me in my morning meditation telling me it was the Archangel Raphael. Yes, as you can imagine I was taken aback. I went down to my local spiritual book store where they had just gotten Doreen Virtue's new Archangel Raphael cards in. I shuffled the deck and asked "Hey Raphael was that really you?!" I pulled one card out of the 44 card deck and it said "Yes". I laughed and went about my day walking on the beach and rehearsing for my first studio session that was in a couple of weeks.

As the days went on I began receiving more and more messages from Raphael, angels, my mom, friends that have passed on, and spiritual teachers that that have provided guidence to me throughout the years. The message got louder and clearer as the week went on. "We love you, we are here for you, and you are protected." Now I'm no newbie to all this. I journal it all and in the past when this has happened it was always a preparation for some major life event that ended up being extremely difficult. I was beginning to get concerned. So after four days of these communications I told my boyfriend. The loving understanding soul that he is and having some pretty incredible spiritual experiences himself, he was not all that alarmed.

After a week of more of this I woke up in a pretty rough state. I was in utter duress and seriously felt like I was going crazy. It was Saturday morning and we were packing for a camping trip in the Sequoias but I needed a walk on the beach to gather my senses. These loving beings kept letting me know they were with me yet when I asked what was going to occur they would only firmly state, "We love you , we are here for you, and you're protected." Although I was experiencing a lot of anxiety I could feel this circle of pure love and light around me. We got in the my boyfriends custom camper/surf van and headed up to meet a bunch of friends for a weekend of great food, music and conversation in the woods.

We stopped for a sandwich about two hours before our destination. It was getting dark and we had gotten in a fight over Whole Foods vs Costco for purchasing the appetizers and breakfast we agreed to bring for 15- 30 people. In hindsight it was a ridiculous fight. We patched things up, ate our sandwiches, and got back on the road.

It was dark out by now and we were starting to enter the foothills. My guy was singing and driving a bit fast but not radically fast when a hill came up with a sudden sharp turn at the bottom of it. As we caught air in the van at the top of that hill I knew there was no way we were going to make the turn at the bottom.

We spun around in seemingly slow motion. Every litttle moment was spread out into an eternity. I felt like I was watching a movie as the headlights lit up the fields whirling around us while my boyfriend tried to gain control of the van. Then, as if in an amusement park ride, the van started to roll onto my side of the vehicle! I tucked into a ball as glass and metal began crashing around me and just as we turned upright and began to go into another roll a bright golden yellow light came down and surrounded my body by about three to four inches thick around me. I said, "God I release to you" and thought, "well this is it! I'm moving on to the next life". What happened in the seconds after this I cannot recall. It's blocked out or maybe I blacked out. I don't know. The next thing I remember is that I was upside down, not sure if I was alive or in pure spirit form.

The horn was blaring and smoke ws coming out of the engine. I seemed to still be alive. I touched my arms and took several deep breaths remembering all the meditation I had done over the years to stay focused and calm. I was crunched in twisted metal and lots of glass and did some twisty yoga moves to free myself from the wreckage. I was barefoot and once outside of the cab, walked through broken glass and engine fuel to get to safety. I thought the engine was going to blow up. Then I suddenly remembered my boyfriend.

I yelled his name over and over until I realized he was still in the car stuck upside down in his seatbelt punching the window to get out. I'll never forget figuring out how to open up the upside down door and seeing his big blue eyes turn to me with blood dripping down his face. I told him to breathe and feel his body incase anything was broken before I released his seatbelt. He said he was ok and to just get him out of there. I pushed the ejection button for his seatbelt and he dropped on his head and rolled out of the vehicle. We held eachother tightly for a few moments and then some local ranchers and rural bar patrons began to arrive.

The amount of adrenaline I had running through my body was incredible. I now understand how moms lift cars off their children in accidents. I was sorting through the wreckage throwing heavy camping gear and backpacks in a pile to try and find my flip flops and purse. The police arrived and started talking to my boyfriend about what happened and gave him a breathalizer to make sure he was sober. He passed. When he told them there was someone else in the car with him they looked shocked and asked where. My guy pointed to me as I was cleaning up the mess, and they came over to talk to me.

They looked at me like I was a ghost! They asked me from several feet away if I needed to go to the hospital and I shooed them away with a no. No one ever took a look at me or asked me to sit down. I've been in a few minor accidents where the paramedics insist on taking a look at me but not this crazy crash.

After feeling I'd adequately gathered up as much of our belongings as I could, I sat for a moment on the perimiter of the wreckage. I thanked the Earth for taking the impact and thanked Raphael and the others for protecting me. Looking up at the beautiful star ridden Milky Way galaxy I had a new reverence for life and thanked the Universe. Just as I did that I heard thousands of people singing Gospel music and felt Christ sending the most nurturing loving energy into my heart and body.

My boyfriend came to get me as they had just put the cab of the van on the towing truck. The back of the van was completely splayed open and no longer attached to the cab. "Hey babe, you might want to see this, " he said. My side of the vehicle was entirely smashed down! I gasped looking at it, I had no idea it was that severe nor how I had survived. I didn't have a mark on my face and the entire front window on my side was folded in to the seat! My boyfriend said when the van stopped rolling he looked over and saw only the ground and thought "Where is Kristi? Where is my baby?".

A week later I was at Yucca Studios for our first recording session. I had a deep bruise and hematoma on my inner right arm and was only able to play for barely 4 hours instead of the 8-10 we had hoped on doing but I was there, alive and making my first album.
